So this started when I heard the term "Thought Leadership" from someone and wrote it down in my todo list to check it out later
Thought Leadership is about introducing fresh ideas, challenging conventional thinking and helping others see a topic from a new perspective.
So looks like a lot of people consider it another marketing buzzword and just another term for content marketing. It is different from content marketing and represents something deeper than simply publishing blog posts and social media updates. While thought leadership often uses content as its vehicle, the two are not the same. A blog post explaining an existing concept is content marketing; an article that presents a unique framework or sparks a new discussion is thought leadership.
To become a thought leader, you have to rise from being an SME (subject matter expert) and be thorough, elegant and continuously improve your thinking. When you hear a thought leader present or read something they've written you generally have a reaction like I've never thought about it this way or that finally makes sense to me now.
The strongest thought leaders ask important questions, challenge assumptions, and contribute ideas that move an industry forward.
